Lookout Spiele reveals new expansions to some of their best games

22 Aug 2018 by Jerodev

Lookout Spiele is a publisher that has produced some of the most know board games in the world, these then get translated to other languages by other publishers. Example of these are Agricola, Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King and Caverna: Cave vs Cave. Last week, Lookout Spiele revealed a new expansion for each one of these games.

Caverna: Cave vs Cave - Era II: The Iron Age

Caverna: Cave vs Cave is a two-player variant of the worker placement game Caverna: The Cave Farmers in which players use their own dwarf clan to reclaim a mountain and build a farm around it using the resources. The new expansion, Caverna: Cave vs Cave - Era II: The Iron Age, adds four new rounds to the game in which iron ore can be mined. You will need new tools to do so and new buildings to refine the iron, but this will get you nice bonuses like better building upgrades and weapons. The extra rounds are added to the end of the original game as a new era in the game.

This new expansion is expected to hit stores in October 2018, we presume this will also be available at Spiel 2018 in Essen

Agricola: Bubulcus Deck

Two years ago, Lookout Spiele gave us the revised edition of Agricola which had reworked and new cards as well as new wooden components for workers and resources. This year, the special edition of Agricola receives a new expansion with the name Agricola: Bubulcus Deck. The Bubulcus card deck contains 120 new cards including 60 training cards and 60 small purchase cards. These cards will make each game even more unique and variable.

Just like the Caverna expansion, Agricola: Bubulcus Deck is expected to hit retailers around October 2018.

Isle of Skye: Druids

Isle of Skye: Druids is the second expansion for the Kennerspiel des Jahres 2016, Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King. This new expansion adds an extra option to the trade phase. You can now choose to trade with the druids hiding around the Dolmen. The tiles you can buy here are just standard tiles, but they can have a stone tablet or a scroll on them. A stone tabled can give you an advantage for the rest of the game and a scroll gives you a one time bonus. New scoring tiles have also been added.

This expansion should be out by the end of the month or early September.
