It has been ten years since Matt Leacock and Z-Man Games brought us the game Pandemic. In this time the game has grown immensely in popularity and today there are over ten different games in this family. To celebrate this occasion, the publisher is selling a 10th-anniversary edition of this game with new, improved and original components.
This new makeover of Pandemic will be packaged in a special metal box that looks like a first aid kit. Because of this, the game will almost weight three kilograms. Aside from this, the game will also feature unique miniatures for each of the characters in the game and all cards are redesigned in a new style and with new artworks. Just like the very first edition, the game will contain wooden cubes and wooden virus markers, but they will be screen printed. The game board will also be bigger than ever before. As a last extra feature, the game will come with custom screen-printed Petri dishes to keep all your cubes and viruses.
This new edition of the game is expected in the fourth quarter of 2018, but it can already be pre-ordered from the official website. More information, pictures of the new components and a short history of Pandemic can be found in the official announcement by Z-Man Games.
