In Fintastic Sea, players take on the role of marine biologists collecting a variety of fish species to create rich and balanced ocean ecosystems. The game unfolds over multiple rounds. Players place fish into a central ocean grid, catch adjacent fish according to the food chain (larger fish catch smaller ones), and then choose whether to store them in their Reserve or place them directly into an Ecosystem. The twist: only fish placed in a closed ecosystem score Environmental Points – but reaching that goal requires clever planning and well-timed moves.

Most fish also feature unique abilities that activate when placed on the grid. These abilities add a layer of tactical depth and ensure that even low-value cards offer strategic opportunities. This creates an exciting interplay of timing, positioning, and combo-building that makes each game unique.

The Reserve serves as a temporary holding area, offering no points – but smart collection allows players to discard matching fish to trigger powerful abilities. Points are only scored once fish are transferred to an ecosystem, which can hold up to 10 regular fish and any number of Secret Fish. Players must carefully balance variety, synergy, and timing to maximize their score.

Fintastic Sea comes with a standout feature: The wave, which moves around the grid each round, pushing fish and changing the board layout. This dynamic element forces players to adapt their strategies and brings fresh gameplay to every session.
