Mass Effect: The Board Game - Priority: Hagalaz by Modiphius Entertainment Set to Hit Tabletops in 2024

Mass Effect the video game has been around since 2007, and now we have the first board game based on this saga for 1-4 players. Although there is no set date for the release of Mass Effect: The Board Game - Priority: Hagalaz by Modiphius Entertainment, we expect the release date to be sometime in the mid to latter part of 2024. Here is everything we know about the new Priority: Hagalaz tabletop game so far.

Priority: Hagalaz Game Play

This exciting cooperative board game based on the popular video game has a suggested playtime of around 45 minutes to an hour per chapter and offers players the chance to advance through between 3-5 chapters per story. As players navigate each chapter of this story game the narrative can change with every step, allowing a unique gameplay every playthrough. Therefore, even the initial choices in the gameplay can ultimately affect your story’s ending.

Mass Effect: The Board Game Story Synopsis

Modiphius Entertainment brings us this new board game set in the year 2189 in Hagalaz. The story reflects the pinnacle moments of Mass Effect 3, the video game in the same franchise.

The story begins as Halagaz is under attack from the Reapers, a terrorist organisation set to destroy the galaxy. A research cruiser from the protagonist organisation Cerberus crash lands in the path of a deadly storm. Running against the clock as the storm approaches ever closer, Shepard and their team must keep themselves and their world safe from the enemy as they uncover the cruiser’s eye-widening secrets. To do this Shepard and co must activate the Crucipe, a weapon that is their last hope at restoring their land’s safety in time.

Your job as players is to help Shepard and the crew of The Normandy through this interactive story by utilising Shepard and their Mass Effect 3 teammates by tailoring their equipment, strengths and skills to solve the mystery of Hagalaz for good (or until you next get out the board game from your collection!).

Conception of this Highly-Anticipated Board Game

Eric M. Lang, the creator and co-creator of the likes of Ankh: Divinità Egizie, Bloodborne: Il Gioco da Tavolo, Marvel United and Munchkin Dungeon, is a key principle in the making of Mass Effect: The Board Game - Priority: Hagalaz.

The game includes six 3.2cm plastic figures that help enhance the immersive element of the game. Artists have created these miniatures including two gender variants of Shepard and figures of Liara, Tali, Garrus or Thane.

With designers Eric M. Lang and Calvin Wong Tze Loon working alongside publishers, Modiphius Entertainment, we reckon this science fiction game will be on everyone's minds until at least 2189.
