In 2016, Fantasy Flight Games revealed Arkham Horror: The Card Game, a tabletop game for those who enjoy mystery, monsters and campaign-style card games. In this cooperative card game made for 1-4 players, participants navigate the universe of Chaosium.
Since its release, a series of carefully designed expansion packs have allowed players to start and complete new stories with each chosen card affecting the narrative throughout gameplay. On top of the original game, there are (at the time of writing) eight cycles, which reflect the main story expansions for the game, a series of 12 self-contained standalone scenarios, and a collection of upgrade packs (which increase game difficulty, offer a chance for players to explore new storylines, or introduce new characters).
Arkham Horror: The Feast of Hemlock Vale Expansion Pack
The Feast of Hemlock Vale story follows acclaimed botanist, Dr Rosa Marquez, as she finds estranged, deadly wildlife and a strange presence on Hemlock Isle. Dr Marquez and her team of five investigators work tirelessly to uncover the mystery of Hemlock Vale while the locals prepare for a festival.
The new Arkham Horror expansion pack includes The Feast of Hemlock Vale Investigator Expansion and The Feast of Hemlock Vale Campaign Expansion, which will be released in January 2024 and February 2024, respectively. The former of which contains new player cards, and the latter explains the scenario details. Some new cards in the Hemlock expansion include the ‘bless’ and ‘curse’ tokens, which can change up the gameplay by affecting players' chances of saving Hemlock Isle and its residents from the threat of the island.
This quick-paced mystery game sees the Dr and her investigators exploring the Island of Hemlock over three days. Players seek to bond with locals and explore each far corner of the island to discover the extent of the threat and find a solution to the problem before they are trapped on the island to meet a terrible fate.
