Z-Man Games announces Pandemic: Fall of Rome

Last week, publisher Z-Man Games announced the newest iteration in their Pandemie game series. The game will be published under the name Pandemic: Fall of Rome and as the name implies the game will take the players to the old Roman Empire. However, players will not fight against diseases or bacteria here, a new enemy has been discovered that will try to wipe you out...

In the Pandemie games, players work together to save the world, or sometimes part of it, from deadly diseases, bacteria or viruses that are spreading. It's up to you to send out doctors, quarantine infected patients and develop remedies or medicines to counteract the outbreak. But these diseases are smart, if you are not fast enough they will develop immunity for your medication. Also, every location that gets infected is one less location where you can research the diseases.

Pandemic: Fall of Rome gives a new twist to the setting of the previous games. In the game, you will not be fighting against diseases, but multiple barbaric tribes that try to destroy the Roman Empire. Huns, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Vandals, and Anglo-Saxons & Franks are each attacking your empire from their side, it's the player's job to find the best strategy to deploy your legions in the best cities to block the barbarians tactics. Each of these tribes has their own strategic route they take to the capital of Rome and once one of the tribes succeeds the game has been lost. If however, you are able to eradicate these tribes, you win the game!

The publisher has said that the game will be in stores by the end of this year. More information is available on the website of Z-Man Games.
