Square Enix unveils Tomb Raider Legends: The Board Game

This week the Gamescom 2018 convention takes place in Cologne, Germany. A convention that is primarily aimed at video gamers, but apparently, this year, there is also some room for board games. A few days ago,  Square Enix has announced their newest tabletop game, Tomb Raider Legends: The Board Game based on the classic and newest Tomb Raider video games.

Square Enix is actually a video game publisher but sporadically brings out a board or card game based on one of their best games. For example, there is the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game for which the publisher still brings out new cards and boosters every year, and there is also Chocobo's Crystal Hunt based on the Chocobo creatures that appear in multiple of the publishers video games.

Their newest tabletop game is one based on the Tomb Raider video games series. There isn't a lot of information about the game yet apart from a lot of teaser pictures on Twitter by the publisher. From these, we can deduce that this will be a game for four players that is played on a circular board depicting several locations. Players have several actions to choose from on each location such as assault, rush, rest, steal or explore. The game also has artwork from many different generations of Tomb Raider video games, we recognize Lara Croft from Tomb Raider III and Tomb Raider Legend.

More information about the game will probably come later this year because one of the publishers latest tweets says the game will be released Q1 2019
