Product Description
Trickerion – Legends of Illusion is a competitive Euro-style strategy game set in a fictional city inspired by the late 19th century urban life and culture, where players take on the role of rival stage illusionists. Players strive to become the city's greatest Magician by acquiring the most Fame points. But there is much more at stake than prestige alone. The audience's favorite wins the contest for the mighty Trickerion Stone, a relic that grants supernatural powers to its owner, making him a true Legend of Illusion.

In trickerion you are a stage magician, preparing tricks, and putting on shows. You are competing with the other players for fame. The key to the game is getting tricks on stage and performing them. There are a number of steps in getting that done, and some distractions along the way. You have to be focused on the goal if you want to do well. Trickerion is a very heavy game, in the sense that it is complex. You have a lot of meaningful decisions to make, and you have to plan ahead. If you just make a selection that is good now, it won't fit with what you did, and what you will need to do, and you won't score points and ultimately win.
The game mechanics fit the theme nicely. None of it feels arbitrary, just tacked on for the sake of making a better game. Some games do that, and it's fine, but the game is better when the logic of the theme is reflected in the mechanics of the game. You need supplies to prepare tricks, you can't pull a rabbit out of a hat without a rabbit, right? So you have to go to market and buy rabbits. The market may not have rabbits, so, you will need to order them. If you have enough cash, you can put in a rush order and get your rabbits now, otherwise you have to place your order this turn, and go buy rabbits next turn. You will also need to make sure that you have a trick that makes use of rabbits. If you take two turns ordering abd buying rabbits, and the other magicians already have all the animal based tricks, you wasted some of your valuable time.
I strongly recommend playing with the built in back alley expansion, and the dahlgaards gifts expansion (which I almost certainly spelled wrong). I also recommend playing on a big big table. This game take a lot of space.
The game itself is a little bit programmed actions, a little bit worker placement, a little bit set collection and a whole lot of magical flare. Every round you will be assigning actions to each of your helpers in secret. Everyone reveals and acts out one of those actions in turn order. There is an element of strategy and timing here that I find fascinating. You are able to look around the table and thing.. which action is my priority based on what everyone else selected. It does lend itself to overthinking which is probably the only weakness of the game.
The choices here are what really elevate this game. I can see some people getting frustrated in their first play if someone beat them to the action they wanted or they pushed their luck too far or programmed poorly. This game begs for you to play it a few times. I can't recommend this game enough.

My only major criticism is the game doesn't tell you that it actually takes all day to play. I'm not sure how anyone finishes a round in just a few hours.
This is the perfect game for a day with a bunch of friends around a table, casual conversation, and no pressure on anyone.

EN CONCLUSION : Si vous n'êtes pas trop regardant à l'état de vos objets, foncez ! le jeu en vaut clairement la chandelle, sinon PASSEZ VOTRE CHEMIN.
The only problem I had so far with the product was the way production put all elements together in the box. Some side player board (aka the specialists in the game) were loose in the box, which caused slight damages on the corners (nothing to do with the seller).
Play with the dark alley expansion which is included in the base game. It makes it more interesting.
